Jon started hooking 18 years ago and for the most part is self taught. He hooked independantly for the first 4 years. He has since attended numerous workshops and is currently in the McGown teachers program. Jon has been teaching workshops for the past 14 years.
To answer the usual question; Jon has no formal art training. This art form and his love for animals and native americans has been the inspiration for all of his pieces. His first self designed piece ( Windsong) was published in the Jan-Feb 2000 Rug Hooking magazine as the first rug on the last page.
One of the best things about creating art using this traditional rug hooking method is that if you are unhappy with the result simply removing and replacing one or at most a few strips of wool with another color or shade can usually resolve the issue.
